Fashion, life, and goals.
Just checking out some street-style photos this afternoon while watching football. And boom, three perfect examples of how to wear flattering blue day dresses were right there for some New Year's Day blogging. (I just had to add that last one because it was one of my favorite model-off-duty shots, ever.) Blue is my favorite color ever since I made a decision on my favorite color.
For me, there's always a shade of blue that's the perfect representations of my current mentality. Plus, the color is just good to wear year round. It is such a relaxed color and with all the fabrics and textures and patterns in the minds of fashion creative geniuses, there is no way that I'm ever going to run out of style to wear in blue. To me, fashion is always an expression. I may not have the fortune to wear my favorite designers, but putting together high street outfits is still an artistic move. For this new year, I want to dress less chill-mode-Eileen and more polished. It is hard. Because I've always been a jeans girl. And I always will. But I definitely want to blend in more classy feminine factors, because I am, inevitably, growing older into the years my productive adult phase.
Since we're touching on a point in my simple 2014 resolutions, I must digress...from fashion.
2014 is definitely going to be a very important year in my life. If you know me personally, you know that I am going to be applying to dental schools here in the States. I think I have a fairly solid "track record" for getting into schools. But I still need to keep my grades up, do more volunteering/shadowing, write a good personal statement, and most importantly, work on my interview skills. People say that I am too hard on myself. But I'm not. I just want to achieve as much as I can with my potentials. What a waste it would be to not try your best shot at life? We all have the same number of hours in a day as Beyonce...
(I just realized this title is a pun with Beyonce's child's name...accidental mind-blownage?)
I've been learning about schools this winter break. OK, to be honest, I am actually just getting started. There is such excitement in me as I look through these great schools and places I could possibly go to if I keep on trying. I am one that never give up if I want it bad enough. And going to a dream school in 2015 is so close I can taste it. [insert doge meme, much thrill, such excite, so thirst, wow]
I also said that I'm going to get fit. I am actually really proud of myself last year for the amount of time I got to spend in the gym. So I want to go more this year. I want to do a 5K. I manage to do daily 5Ks on the treadmill but on an actual road? Much struggle. I get really bored running I always need a distraction. At the same time, I find frequent mid-distance running really good for the mind as well. Since it's always a struggle for me, I get to build up my endurance (I'm the least patient person you'll ever find)...which actually helped in a recent personal crisis that is too awkward/weird/embarrassing to discuss on this blog. (Believe me, it really was...only close friends know...)
Those are my general resolutions for this year. I believe they're attainable. For smaller things, I want to read more non-fictions, pay more attention to news (I'm a caveman), be less anti-social (yeah this should be a big thing), cook more food, be more creative, blah blah blah. I believe in making little goals and conquer them one by one instead of bullshitting a whole lot on one day like today and never get to them.
Most importantly, I want to explore more of me. Finding out new aspects of my personality, or developing new hobbies. Cheers to a new year of new discoveries! :)
Here are some New Yeezy Resolutions for inspiration if you haven't decided on yours! Don't forget to check out my favorite albums and songs of 2013. Go blue!
